Begin your coastal adventure in Scarborough. Set off from the South Bay, a two- minute walk from our bed-and-breakfast, where the sweeping shoreline is adorned with colourful beach huts and the iconic Star Disk glistens in the sunlight, displaying a symbol of Scarborough’s maritime heritage and connection to the stars. Visit the Star disk again at night to experience it in its glory of lights.

Before you set off much further on your walk, take a few moments to visit the hidden oasis of tranquility known as the Italian Gardens. This picturesque retreat, adorned with lush greenery and vibrant floral displays, offers a serene escape and sets a glorious tone for your day’s adventure. Meandering pathways wind their way through manicured lawns and elegant fountains and invite you to stroll amidst the beauty of Italian-inspired architecture and design. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings, from seabirds soaring overhead to seals basking on rocky outcrops below.

Discovering Cayton Bay: Make a stop at Cayton Bay, a hidden gem along the coastal path, where golden sands stretch as far as the eye can see. Cayton Bay offers the perfect retreat to reconnect with nature and rejuvenate your spirit. Here you can have a splendid chance for a pit stop halfway  along the route, admiring the views. Pop in to Lucy’s beach shack (follow the link to her facebook page) for a coffee or snack at Cayton Bay and catch up with the locals surfing the waves.

Once rested, follow the coastal path towards Filey Brigg, a dramatic headland that juts out into the sea, commanding panoramic views of the coastline. As you ascend the rugged cliffs, keep an eye out for seabirds soaring overhead and explore the rock pools teeming with marine life at low tide. At the tip of Filey Brigg, soak in the breathtaking views stretching from the distant horizon to the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Arrival at Filey: As you approach the town of Filey, the sight of its historic coble landing, where traditional fishing boats bob in the harbour, will greet you. It’s then a ten minute walk back to our accommodation where you can relax in your room and enjoy a well-earned refreshment drink and help yourself to our sweets and crisps from our guests’ pantry.
